Scale Model Aircraft 3
These two fighter aircraft models are built
from injected styrene kits and are of WWII Japanese aircraft. Again, both feature custom-made markings and extra scratchbuilt
details.

MITSUBISHI A6M2b "ZERO" Japanese
naval fighter, 1941 Hasegawa injected kit

This aircraft was a carrier-based
fighter, necessitating the construction of a suitable display base. It was made from Evergreen styrene, the planking
and tie-down details being added.

These markings are common for naval
fighters just prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor. The pilot's first initial is chalked within the Hinomaru on the
fuselage sides, making visual identification easier.

KI-61 "HIEN" Japanese army fighter,
1945 Dragon injected kit

Though a nicely detailed kit to
begin with, more detail was added, including a vac-formed canopy, allowing the fully detailed interior to be seen.

The sheme of dark green 'sguiggle'
camouflage was applied by airbrush. This was done to protect the pilot from marauding allied fighters. This particular
pilot died in a ramming attack on a B-29 over Japan in 1945.
