Miniature Pin-Up Art

My most recent interest has been collecting
and enhancing 1/6 scale (12" tall) figurines.
These are best compared to the "G.I. Joes" of
the 1960's, but with much more detail and accuracy.

It was common practice during WWII for pilots to
decorate the backs of their leather flight jackets
with pin-up art, often mimicking the art applied to
their aircraft. The pieces below are painted in a
combination of acrylics and oils, faithfully
duplicating actual, vintage artwork. The jackets
themselves are commercially available items, made
for the figures mentioned above. They are shown
here at slightly larger than actual size.

This commissioned piece
features German crosses
to indicate enemy aircraft
destroyed, at the customer's
request. It was normal practice
to use the swastika.
